A wedding and Reception is
not only one of the most important days of your life, but it will
likely also be one of the most expensive and complex social events
you will ever plan. Here is some information to help guide you
through this process. Follow the links for more information about
each topic. Need more help? We're
only a phone call away!
Establish a budget.
Weddings can be expensive and most of us have a
limited amount we can afford to spend. An "average" wedding is
in the range of $25,000. Do some research to learn what
different services cost. Keep in mind that the lowest cost is
not necessarily the best value and the most expensive service
may not be the "best". Once you have determined what your budget
amount is, you should prioritize budget items based on overall
importance to the success of the event and apportion your money
accordingly*. If you plan on utilizing a Professional Wedding
Planner, now is the time to select one and have them assist you
with the remainder of the planning process.

Select your date.
This will depend on the availability of the
various Ceremony and Reception sites you are considering. There
are many to choose from in all different price ranges. Keep in
mind that fees can vary based on the day and date you choose.
The majority of Michigan Weddings occur on Fridays and
Saturdays from April through October. Most vendors offer
a discounted rate for non prime dates (Sunday -
Thursday, and November through March).
Select your Entertainment.
Your Reception entertainment will be
responsible for as much as 80% of the success of your reception.
Whether you choose a live band or a Professional DJ Entertainer,
you need to place great importance on this selection. Your
guests will not remember much about the decor or even the food
(unless it was really bad!), but they will remember whether they
had a good time or not at your celebration. A common mistake is
saving this decision for last, once all of your funds have
already been exhausted and settling for "cheap" entertainment

Select your Photographer.
Another very important decision.
There are hundreds of photographers in all price ranges.
The professional photos taken at your wedding will
become family heirlooms in the future (think about them
being displayed on your Great Grandchildren's wall!)
Once again, this is not an area to overlook.
